Report 5, Annex 2. Impact Testing of Adhesive Joints
This report results from a range of high rate tests on adhesive joints. Seven adhesives were tested: a one-part rubber toughened epoxy adhesive, AV119 (Araldite 2007), one-part epoxies LMD1142, XB5315, XW1044 all from Ciba (now Vantico); a two-part acrylic adhesive, F241 and a one-part epoxy ESP110 from Permabond; and a two-part epoxy, EA9309 from Hysol Dextor. The test geometries and load rates used were the impact wedge peel, 2m/s, block shear, 4.2m/s, three point bend, 0.5m/s and tapered double cantilever beam (TDCB), 0.5m/s. Results are presented as cleavage forces, energy, or fracture energy.
