PAJ Summary

The PAJ projects:
  • Developed improved test equipment for measuring strains at high loading rates, adhesive tack and dynamic shear properties.
  • Improved test methods for measuring the high strain rate and impact performance of adhesives.
  • Evaluated test and analysis procedures for cyclic fatigue, creep loading and accelerated ageing.
  • Produced improvements to adhesive joint tests such as the thick adherend shear test and butt-joint tension test.
  • Applied statistical analysis techniques to the interpretation of test results for durability under load and in hostile environments.
  • Furthered the understanding of the behaviour and modelling of adhesives and developed test methods for characterising the non-linear mechanical performance of toughened adhesives and flexible rubbery adhesives.
