Introduction

The Performance of Adhesive Joints programme (PAJ) began in 1996, funded by the DTI in order to 'support innovation in the development and use of adhesive joining technology by providing methods for assessing the performance of adhesive joints'. In conjunction with industry, and in particular the adhesives Industrial Advisory Group, three original projects were specified. These projects were led by NPL and addressed the whole lifecycle of adhesive joints from design through manufacture to durability, focussing on developing quantitative test methods for adhesive systems.

PAJ Technical Projects

PAJ1: Failure Criteria and Visco-Elastic/Visco-Plastic Adhesives
PAJ2: Dynamic Performance of Adhesively Bonded Joints
PAJ3: Adhesives, Combined Cyclic Loading and Hostile Environments
