Material data (adhesives, adherends etc)

This area will hold material property data, which can be used to assist with the selection of adhesives, the design of adhesively bonded joints and in particular as a resource to support the stress analysis module. Initially the data will be generic in nature enabling qualitative comparisons to be made between different adhesive types.

It is planned that data for commercial adhesives will be made available here. The data will be supplied by the manufacturers themselves or derived from independent testing from a range of sources. In all cases the source of the data will be indicated alongside the test type, adherends and test conditions.

In addition, a working draft of a document to standardise the list of key properties required for effective designing with adhesives is available for comment. It is intended that this document will eventually become an ISO standard. We would welcome any comment on this document from producers and end-users alike as it is anticipated that this will define the future format for the used adhesive materials and provide a foundation on which informed selection can be made.
