ESR Technology was previously the Engineering, Safety and Risk business of AEA Technology, which was formed from the commercial arm of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. ESR Technology hosts four internationally renowned Centres of Excellence:
ESR Technology undertakes projects world-wide in plant integrity, life assessment, machinery problems, failure investigation and performance improvement. An extensive portfolio of projects relating to composites and adhesives is carried out. The activities cover all aspects of composites' development including materials selection and evaluation, engineering design, thermal and stress analysis, materials and prototype fabrication, and non-destructive testing. The work, although strongly industrially focussed, is pursued at both an applied and fundamental level and over the years staff have made numerous contributions to the science and technology of composites. Of relevance to one aspect of this project is ESR Technology's involvement in the development of national and international standards and codes of practice. This has taken place over a number of years. This work has provided a focus for the dissemination of composites and adhesives technology that has been derived from DTI sponsored programmes such as CPD, DCC and ADH.
